For more than a century, Gibson has been at the heart of musical innovation, crafting instruments that shape genres and inspire generations. Now, the legendary brand is breaking new ground once again by honoring mandolin virtuoso Sierra Hull with a historic signature release — the first ever for a female artist in the company’s storied history.

Gibson recently unveiled the Sierra Hull F-5 Master Model and F-5G mandolins. Both models reflect Hull’s artistry and Gibson’s craftsmanship, and they are available globally through authorized Gibson dealers, Gibson Garage locations, and online at gibson.com.

Hull celebrates a historic launch in Nashville

On October 16, Hull will mark the release of her signature mandolins at the Gibson Garage Nashville. She will perform live on stage, followed by a fan signing and meet-and-greet session. Space is limited for this special event.

The two mandolin models feature a Sierra Burst VOS Varnish finish and exclusive case candy. Hull collaborated closely with Gibson Custom over two years to shape every detail.

“This was the first time I’ve gotten to see the process of building mandolins up close,” Hull said. “To see these instruments go from a piece of wood to the final product is kind of mind-blowing.”

Mat Koehler, Gibson’s VP of Product, praised her artistry. “She has redefined what’s possible on the mandolin. Each model reflects her passion and uncompromising tone,” he said.

Craftsmanship meets innovation

The Sierra Hull F-5 Master Model mandolin mirrors her original F-5 instrument. It has an F-style body, red spruce top, curly maple back, Sierra Burst varnish, silver-plated hardware, and a vintage replica case. It also includes a certificate of authenticity, a BlueChip pick, a leather strap, and other exclusive extras.

The Sierra Hull F-5G mandolin offers a refined yet accessible alternative. It features a figured red maple body, Sitka spruce top, Grover tuning machines, nickel hardware, and Sierra’s engraved initials on the tailpiece. The hand-applied Sierra Burst finish gives it a unique touch.

She has collaborated with legends like Dolly Parton, Eric Clapton, Brandi Carlile, and Béla Fleck. Her fusion of bluegrass, Americana, folk, jazz, and progressive acoustic music has inspired a new generation of musicians.

Her upcoming album A Tip Toe High Wire continues to explore new musical territory while staying rooted in tradition.

Hull has performed on iconic stages such as Carnegie Hall, the Grand Ole Opry, and the White House. She recently joined Billy Strings, Bob Dylan, and Willie Nelson on tour, with more performances scheduled across major cities through 2026.
