Trident Digital Tech Holdings Ltd. has sealed a definitive public-private partnership with the Democratic Republic of Congo to deploy DRCPass, the country’s comprehensive digital identity platform. The agreement marks a milestone in the DRC’s journey toward e-governance and Web 3.0 readiness, with Trident appointed as the exclusive e-KYC provider.

The DRCPass system will be introduced in phases and accompanied by a nationwide public education campaign. The platform will enable Congolese citizens to securely verify their identities, access digital services, and benefit from streamlined government interactions.

Four key use cases for DRCPass rollout

The DRCPass initiative focuses on critical applications, including biometric-linked SIM registration to curb fraud, and single-sign-on access to e-government and business portals. It will also enable one-click digital payments and credit scoring, expanding formal financial access, and introduce a verifiable digital identity for both public and private sector use.

Citizens who register will be able to download the Tridentity mobile app, linking their identity to online platforms using secure single-sign-on protocols. Trident’s approach ensures real-time integration, data security, and usability for over 80 million mobile subscribers in the DRC.

Leadership lauds transformative digital milestone

Trident Chairman and CEO Soon Huat Lim hailed the agreement as a landmark in African digital transformation. “We commend the Republic’s leadership for embracing a digital future and look forward to supporting a nationwide rollout that others in Africa will surely emulate,” he said.

H.E. Augustin Kibassa Maliba, the DRC’s Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and Digital Affairs, emphasized the broader national significance. “Today marks a defining chapter in the digital rebirth of our nation. By launching the national digital identification system, we lay a cornerstone for a Democratic Republic of Congo that is digitally sovereign, financially inclusive, and resilient to tomorrow’s challenges.”

The DRCPass deployment underscores the DRC’s growing digital ambitions and places it among leading African nations adopting robust, future-ready identity infrastructures.
