MPT South’s Biyaheng South Summer Tour highlights Southern Luzon’s charm through enhanced expressway access

Metro Pacific Tollways South (MPT South), the concessionaire behind the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) and Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX), recently celebrated a major milestone in promoting Southern Luzon tourism with its immersive Biyaheng South Summer Tour campaign. This three-day, two-night journey spotlighted some of the region’s most captivating summer destinations, now more accessible thanks to the growing expressway network.
Co-presented by Landco Pacific Corporation in partnership with the Department of Tourism Region IV-A (DOT IVA), Department of Interior and Local Government Region IV-A (DILG-IVA), Cavite Tourism Office, and Calatagan Tourism Office, the tour invited influencers, media partners, and selected winners — dubbed Ka-Biyaheros — to explore Southern Luzon’s coastal beauty, cultural landmarks, and natural attractions. These travelers will amplify the region’s appeal by sharing their experiences across social media platforms. Foton Philippines served as the official mobility partner, while Kura Café provided culinary sponsorship.
Scenic drives and specialty brews in General Trias
The adventure began with a smooth and scenic drive along CALAX, highlighting the expressway’s efficiency and comfort. Participants enjoyed relaxing rides aboard the air-conditioned FOTON Traveller and FOTON Traveller XL shuttles.
A highlight was an exclusive preview of the upcoming Governor’s Drive Interchange, set to open in 2025 and extend CALAX’s connectivity to General Trias, Cavite. This new interchange aims to ease traffic and shorten travel times to Carmona, Silang, and neighboring areas.

The group then stopped at Kura Café in General Trias, near the Silang-Aguinaldo exit of CALAX, where guests savored specialty coffee and local dishes like Nutella pizza with pistachios, beef quesadilla, oyster sisig, and baked scallops.
Lakeside relaxation and coastal adventure in Batangas
Next, the Ka-Biyaheros cruised on tranquil Taal Lake in Talisay, Batangas, with views of the iconic Taal Volcano. A lakeside lunch featured Batangas favorites such as crispy tawilis and lomi.
The tour’s base was Calatagan South Beach (CaSoBe), a premier beach community by Landco in Calatagan, Batangas. Winner of the Silver Award for Outstanding Development in Luzon at the 2023 Property and Real Estate Excellence Awards, CaSoBe offers luxury accommodations including Apollo Aeropods, Cupola, Cocoon Pods, and Premier Garden Cabins.
Participants enjoyed ocean breezes, mornings by the shore, and lively evenings at Captain Barbozza. Day two included island hopping to pristine beaches and sandbars, and fun at Aquaria Water Park with its giant slide and refreshing pools. The day ended with a peaceful sunset visit to historic Cape Santiago Lighthouse, overlooking the West Philippine Sea while enjoying local merienda.

High-energy fun and local flavors in Cavite
The final day returned to Cavite with breakfast at Chantilly Café in Carmona, known for its cozy, rustic vibe. The adventure continued with go-kart racing at the Carmona Racetrack, adding excitement and friendly competition.
The tour concluded at the DEAFinitely Happy Store, a social enterprise supporting the deaf community, where guests purchased handcrafted souvenirs and learned about inclusive local initiatives.
Expanding tourism through connectivity and partnerships
“As we expand Biyaheng South, our goal is to bring people closer to Southern Luzon’s beauty and stories,” said Arlette V. Capistrano, Vice President for Communication and Stakeholder Management at MPT South. “We’re proud to provide the expressways that lead to these adventures—and prouder to promote the local tourism that gives our roads meaning.”
DOT-IVA Regional Director Marites Castro lauded the campaign as a vital public-private partnership advancing regional connectivity, sustainable tourism, and economic growth across Southern Luzon.
