XG Enters a Surreal New Era With ‘DEPENDS’ Video and Seven Solo Instagram Accounts
XG is rewriting its own playbook. With a surreal “DEPENDS” video and seven newly confirmed solo Instagram accounts, the group is showing fans a looser, more personal side.
The single arrived Nov. 6 and made its live debut with a surprise performance at the Los Angeles stop of “XG WORLD TOUR: THE CORE” at Crypto.com Arena on Nov. 5. The solo accounts solved a mystery that had fans guessing.
Inside the Surreal DEPENDS Single
In the video, seven vividly colored creatures appear from nowhere, and each stands for a member of XG. The members chase them through four sets, each with its own character.
The concept mirrors the song’s idea that emotions and choices do not always come down to a yes or no. “DEPENDS” blends late 2000s and early 2010s electropop with R&B emotion, layered harmonies and shifting flows.
The looks shift with the mood. Members wear 1980s-inspired traditional outfits with ties worn in unconventional ways, then switch to 1990s R&B and street-culture styling with animal and plant motifs. A 2000s R&B and electropop dance break links the two.
The single also includes “S.A.D,” which pairs early 2000s R&B with a modern rhythm section, percussive beats and a nostalgic harp melody. It is blunt about sadness and leaves listeners to decide whether facing it is weakness or strength.
XG Solo Instagram Accounts Revealed
XG’s official Instagram account, @xgofficial, drew attention after suddenly following seven mysterious accounts. They are now confirmed as the members’ own solo accounts, and all are active.
Jurin is @jurin.asaya, Chisa is @_chisa.wav and Hinata is @hichaaanie. Harvey is @amy__janet__harvey.
Juria is @juriaauueda, Maya is @maya_kawachiii and Cocona is @cocona__akiyama. Together, the accounts give fans a new way to follow each member.
The North American leg includes stops in Chicago (Nov. 9), Hamilton, Ontario (Nov. 12) and Newark, New Jersey (Nov. 14). Those shows follow the Los Angeles stop where “DEPENDS” made its live debut.
The tour wraps with “XG WORLD TOUR: THE CORE FINAL ‘1’ & ‘7’” in February 2027, with two shows each at Tokyo Dome and Kyocera Dome Osaka, four in all. The finale closes a world tour that has run for nearly a year.
Where does XG go from here? As the new single puts it, it depends.
