Geena Davis to Star in ‘The Exorcist’ TV Remake
Geena Davis is returning to television in a big way. The Oscar winner nabs the starring role in the reboot of “The Exorcist” on Fox.
The actress, whose last starred in the TV show “Commander in Chief” in 2005, is going to play Angela Rance in the remake. Rance is described as a character who is “naturally beautiful, regal and proud but weighed down by stress,” per Entertainment Weekly. But she constantly has demon dreams, which makes her wonder if it has something to do with her family’s struggles or her faith.
Jeremy Slater penned “The Exorcist” which will also have Brianne Howey, Hannah Kasulka, Kurt Egyiawan in the cast, per The Hollywood Reporter. The show is set for the next TV season, should it get a green light from Fox. The TV show is a “re-imagining” of the story written by author William Blatty, where two men offer a different take on a family’s demonic episodes.
Davis was recently seen on TV in “Grey’s Anatomy,” where she guest-starred in a multi-episode arc. She is best known for her work in movies like “Thelma & Louise” and “Angie” and “A League of Their Own.” The actress won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in “The Accidental Tourist” in the 80s.
