‘The Shannara Chronicles’ Reveals New Teaser at New York Comic Con [WATCH VIDEO]

“The Shannara Chronicles” was part of the New York Comic Con event over the weekend and MTV took this time to showcase the newest trailer for the upcoming series.

The show is an adaptation of the fantasy book written by Terry Brooks and centers on the descendants of a family whose members practice ancient magic. The main heroes are played by Austin Butler (The Carrie Diaries), Poppy Drayton (When Calls The Heart) and Ivana Baquero (Pan’s Labyrinth) with John Rhys-Davies (Lord of the Rings) and Manu Bennett (Spartacus) also leading the cast.

Setting for the story is set thousands of years following the destruction of the earth, and the three main heroes, each with their special characteristics – as an Elven princes, a half-human and half-elf and a human – attempts to stop a demon army from destroying what is left of the world.

“The Shannara Chronicles will debut on January 2016 at MTV with 10 episodes. Production was filmed in New Zealand. The series is created by Al Gough and Miles Millar, who previously did “Smallville.” Early on, it is already being compared to “Game of Thrones” and “Lord of the Rings.”
