Retro RPG Terranigma Roars Back With SteelBook, Gaia Editions
Terranigma is officially coming home. Clear River Games announced Wednesday that the classic 1995 action RPG is heading to Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox and PC in Standard, SteelBook and Gaia Editions.
The re-release keeps the original pixel-art style while adding modern touches. It ships both digitally and physically on January 14, 2027, with pre-orders for physical copies already open.
Terranigma Quality-of-Life Features and Release Details
The new version adds a CRT filter and multiple aspect ratios that replicate the original 1995 look. It’s a nod to longtime fans who want that authentic retro feel on modern screens.
Quality-of-life upgrades round out the package for modern players. Confirmed additions include a quick magic button, item hot-swap and customizable high-resolution backgrounds.
The list also includes a built-in music player, a museum mode, a rewind function and remappable controls. Together, they give both new players and longtime fans plenty of ways to customize the experience.
Terranigma is set to launch both digitally and physically on January 14, 2027. The PC version arrives through Steam and GOG, while console players get both digital and physical options.
Terranigma Editions, Pricing and Gaia Edition Contents
Physical collectors can choose between three tiers. The Standard Edition costs $39.99 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, rising to $44.99 for the Nintendo Switch 2 version.
A limited Foiled Standard Edition carries the same pricing and is sold exclusively through Clear River Games and Limited Run Games. Above that sits the SteelBook Edition, priced at $64.99 across every platform.
The premium Gaia Edition tops the lineup at $199.99 and includes everything from the SteelBook Edition. It adds a Yomi figurine, a Pandora’s Box replica that plays “Elle’s Theme,” an art book, an enamel pin, a soundtrack CD and a cloth world map.
Pre-orders for every physical edition are already live through Clear River Games and Limited Run Games. PC players can also wishlist the digital version now on Steam ahead of the 2027 release.
