But that reign may be facing its first real challenger — and it’s not another SUV. GAC Philippines is going all in on the Multi-Purpose Vehicle, rolling out three distinct models built around comfort, adaptability, and electrification instead of raw utility.
The brand’s newly expanded lineup — the all-new GN6, the E8 HEV, and the flagship GN8 PHEV Executive — spans everything from an accessible gas-powered family hauler to hybrid and plug-in hybrid options. It’s a bet backed by real experience: GAC has been a major force in China’s premium MPV segment since the 2010s and has delivered more than 880,000 MPVs worldwide, giving the brand a deep well of insight into what families actually want from these vehicles.
Why GAC Is Betting on Comfort Over Cargo Space
For GAC, building a great MPV means more than stacking in extra seats. The brand’s philosophy centers on passenger-first design, prioritizing how easily people get in, how comfortable they stay, and how well the cabin serves passengers of different ages and needs. Compared with traditional SUVs, MPVs typically offer lower step-in heights, flatter floors, and easier rear-cabin access — a difference that matters most when young kids or elderly relatives are climbing in and out multiple times a day.
The E8 HEV puts this thinking into practice with its low step-in height and, on the GX variant, power-sliding doors that make loading passengers effortless. Its three-row seating and generous legroom give riders room to stretch out, whether they’re headed to school, the office, or a weekend trip several hundred kilometers away. Cabin flexibility gets pushed even further with the E8 HEV’s Magic Storage seating system, which offers 18 configurations, including a “Tea Break Mode” that turns the rear cabin into an impromptu outdoor lounge.
Comfort extends well beyond the front row across the lineup, too. The flagship GN8 PHEV Executive features Zero Breeze Air Conditioning, a system that uses more than 1,600 micro-vents to circulate cool air gently instead of blasting it directly at passengers. Both the E8 HEV GX and GN8 PHEV Executive also come with second-row One-Touch Zero Gravity captain’s seats, complete with power leg rests, ventilation, and massage functions — bringing an executive-sedan feel to what used to be a purely functional family vehicle.

Practicality in 2026 means more than folding seats. It also means giving buyers real powertrain choices as electrification becomes a bigger part of the family-car conversation. The GN6 sticks with a familiar 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine for buyers who aren’t ready to make the jump to electrified mobility, while the E8 HEV pairs a 2.0-liter hybrid system with a driving range of more than 1,000 kilometers on a full tank, making it a strong fit for both daily commutes and long family drives.
At the top of the range, the GN8 PHEV Executive combines premium MPV comfort with plug-in hybrid technology, delivering a total combined driving range of up to 1,032 kilometers. Technology plays a supporting role throughout the lineup, too — the GN6 pairs a 360-degree HD camera system with a full suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), helping drivers navigate tight subdivision roads, crowded school zones, and Metro Manila traffic with more confidence.
Reservations for all three models are now open at GAC dealerships nationwide, with introductory pricing available through September 30, 2026. The all-new GN6 GX starts at an introductory price of PHP 1,198,000, while the E8 HEV is available in GL and GX variants priced from PHP 1,778,000 and PHP 1,918,000, respectively. The flagship GN8 PHEV Executive rounds out the lineup at an introductory price of PHP 3,338,000.
GAC backs the lineup with a nationwide network of 30 dealerships, a dedicated parts warehouse, and two years of free roadside assistance. The GN6 carries a 5-year or 150,000-kilometer warranty, while the E8 HEV and GN8 PHEV Executive come with a 5-year or 150,000-kilometer basic warranty plus an additional 8-year or 150,000-kilometer policy covering the power battery, driving motor, and motor control unit.
