Che’Nelle’s New Single Becomes Official Docomo Theme Song

Some reunions are just for old time’s sake. This one wasn’t. Che’Nelle has teamed up again with EIGO, the songwriter behind her breakout hit “Believe,” but instead of chasing that same magic twice, the pair crafted something entirely different — a reflective new single that’s now been named the official theme song for DOCOMO Future Museum, one of Japan’s longest-running creative art competitions.

The new track, “たいせつなもの Taisetsu na Mono,” marks a deliberate departure from the pop anthem formula that made “Believe” a career-defining hit. Rather than reaching for another chart-chasing hook, Che’Nelle asked EIGO to write something that reflects who she is today, and the result is a song built for meaning over momentum.

A Reunion Built on Growth, Not Nostalgia

Che’Nelle didn’t ask EIGO to write her another “Believe.” She asked him to write something that sounds like where she is now, and that’s exactly what he did.

“たいせつなもの Taisetsu na Mono” centers on the small, easily overlooked moments that only reveal their significance in hindsight: time with family, a quiet feeling for someone you love, the kind of ordinary beauty people rarely notice until it’s gone. The song leans warm and reflective, designed to land as a genuine message rather than a hook-driven pop single.

It’s a notable creative choice for two artists who could have easily leaned on a proven formula. Instead, the reunion produced something rooted in authenticity, a signal of where Che’Nelle wants her artistry to go next.

A Platform Beyond Streaming Numbers

Unlike most new releases, “たいせつなもの Taisetsu na Mono” arrives with built-in reach and cultural weight. The song has been selected as the theme song for DOCOMO Future Museum, NTT Docomo’s creative art competition that has run every year since 2002.

That partnership gives the single an audience and context that extends far beyond typical streaming metrics, placing Che’Nelle’s new music in front of a long-established national platform with deep cultural recognition in Japan.

For an artist and songwriter who once teamed up to create a defining hit, this new chapter isn’t about replicating past success. It’s about capturing where Che’Nelle stands now, and giving that message a stage worthy of it.
