The Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC), in partnership with the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), awarded more than P47 million in housing assistance to a Valenzuela City community on Wednesday, May 6, marking another milestone under the government’s expanded housing initiatives.

DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling and SHFC President and CEO Federico Laxa led the ceremonial turnover of checks to the Archangel Sword II Homeowners’ Association, Inc. (HOAI), supporting the land acquisition of property occupied by residents for nearly 20 years.

The community in Barangay Lawang Bato consists of 256 member-beneficiaries, with the funding aimed at finally securing legal ownership of the land where their homes stand. The project forms part of SHFC’s broader implementation of the Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Laxa reaffirmed SHFC’s continuing commitment to delivering financial assistance to communities across the country, emphasizing the government’s push to fulfill long-standing dreams of secure homeownership for thousands of Filipino families.

Expanded mortgage program strengthens community ownership nationwide

Since the launch of the Enhanced Community Mortgage Program (ECMP) in July 2025, SHFC has approved 45 housing projects nationwide, benefiting more than 7,700 families.

Out of these projects, 17 communities have already received financial assistance for land acquisition, allowing informal settler families to transition into legitimate homeowners with long-term security.

For beneficiaries like the residents of Archangel Sword II, the release of funding represents the realization of a dream that took almost two decades to achieve, with community leaders expressing gratitude for the government’s intervention.

Vertical housing developments continue under 4PH initiative

Beyond the ECMP, SHFC is also accelerating vertical housing developments under the 4PH Program in multiple areas nationwide.

Current projects include Crystal Peak Estates in San Fernando City, Pampanga; People’s Ville in Davao City; Valley View Township in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental; Tandikan Ville in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan; and Pascualer 7 and 10 in Quezon City.

These initiatives reflect the Marcos administration’s broader housing agenda, aimed at addressing the country’s housing backlog through both land acquisition support and large-scale residential developments for underserved communities.
