The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development and the Social Housing Finance Corporation released over ₱38.6 million in assistance for housing beneficiaries in Barangay Maimpis, City of San Fernando, Pampanga on March 26. The funding supports land acquisition and documentary requirements for two organized communities under a government housing initiative.

The ceremonial awarding was led by DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling and SHFC President and CEO Federico Laxa. The activity was held at the Pinag-isang Magkakapitbahay ng Miranda Compound Homeowners Association, Inc., covering Phases 1 and 2.

The initiative forms part of the government’s Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program, which aims to expand access to affordable housing for low-income Filipino families.

₱35 million allocated for land ownership support

A total of around ₱35 million was allocated for lot acquisition under SHFC’s Enhanced Community Mortgage Program. The funding benefits about 400 families who are set to collectively purchase the land they have long occupied.

An additional ₱3.6 million was released to assist beneficiaries in processing documentary requirements needed for the housing process. Officials said the program is designed to strengthen community-based homeownership and long-term housing security.

Government highlights secure housing and community dignity

SHFC President Federico Laxa emphasized that empowering organized communities remains central to the agency’s housing strategy. He noted that the program aims to provide not only financial assistance but also long-term stability and dignity for families.

DHSUD Secretary Aliling also congratulated the beneficiaries, describing the development as a significant milestone toward safer and more secure communities.

Beneficiaries from both phases expressed gratitude to government agencies for supporting their transition toward formal land ownership. Community leaders highlighted that the assistance brings renewed security and relief from long-standing concerns over possible eviction.

Nationwide, SHFC has approved 43 ECMP projects benefiting more than 7,400 families, reflecting ongoing efforts to accelerate socialized housing programs across the country.
