Last Drop teaser reveals gritty open world set in 1990s Finland

Finnish indie studio Lohkare Games Oy has released a new teaser trailer for its debut title Last Drop, a story-driven open-world experience set in 1994 Finland. Inspired by real events and personal memories, the project follows a flawed antihero navigating a subdued suburban world shaped by the era’s gray atmosphere.

Last Drop represents the studio’s first major project and was built entirely with a focus on authenticity. The developers crafted the map by hand, centering it on small towns, quiet suburbs, forests, lakes, and long rural roads designed to feel naturally lived-in rather than artificially constructed.

That grounded philosophy extends directly into the gameplay experience. Last Drop aims to revive a slower, more deliberate sense of adventure often absent from modern open-world titles.

Players are free to explore without the pressure of a minimap constantly directing movement. Character progression unfolds organically, with basic stats influencing combat effectiveness and overall survivability.

Combat system emphasizes physical encounters

Encounters in Last Drop draw inspiration from classic fighting games, giving confrontations a more tactile and hands-on feel. Non-playable characters react dynamically to player behavior, meaning situations can escalate quickly if provoked.

Depending on player actions, NPCs may retaliate, flee the scene, or call allies for backup. This reactive system is designed to make every encounter feel unpredictable and grounded in consequence.

Authenticity drives the game’s presentation

The developers also leaned heavily into authenticity through performance capture. Finnish film actors portray the main characters, reinforcing the game’s distinctly local identity and emotional tone.

The studio believes this approach helps the world resonate more deeply with Finnish players while offering international audiences a rarely depicted open-world setting.

An Early Access launch is planned for late Q1 or early Q2 on PC via Steam. The release will mark the beginning of what the team describes as an evolving project they intend to expand over time.
