The Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) and the Land Registration Authority (LRA) signed a memorandum of agreement on January 20 to expedite land registration and titling for SHFC housing projects nationwide. The MOA was signed by SHFC President and CEO Federico Laxa and LRA Administrator Atty. Gerardo Sirios during SHFC’s 22nd founding anniversary at the agency’s head office in Makati.

Under the agreement, a Special Lane will be established within the LRA’s Registry of Deeds to fast-track transactions. These include the transfer and issuance of land and condominium titles, individualization of titles, annotation or cancellation of encumbrances, correction of clerical errors, and other land registration-related matters.

Partnership strengthens housing programs

The collaboration aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program, which focuses on people-centered housing services for poor and low-income Filipino families. The program is implemented by the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development, led by Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling.

President and CEO Federico Laxa expressed gratitude for the partnership, saying it will “fast-track our documentation processes” and expand opportunities for community development. Atty. Gerardo Sirios reaffirmed LRA’s support, emphasizing the significance of SHFC’s programs in achieving the administration’s vision of a Bagong Pilipinas.

SHFC’s ongoing partnerships and modernization efforts

SHFC continues to expand networks and partnerships to modernize housing programs and better respond to community needs. Previous collaborations include discounted water rates through the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System Regulatory Office and free internet access via unconnected.org.

Other partners, such as the Apl.de.Ap Foundation and water.org, work with SHFC to improve access to essential services and enhance quality of life in socialized housing communities. Guided by the theme “Championing Communities Today and Tomorrow,” SHFC reiterates its commitment to transform, empower, and nurture the communities it serves.
