PASIG CITY — Two communities in Pasig City received early Christmas gifts on December 16 as the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC), in coordination with the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), turned over assistance to two Enhanced Community Mortgage Program (ECMP) beneficiary communities.

DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling and SHFC President and CEO Federico Laxa led the ceremonial turnover of checks totaling over P23 million for the acquisition of land in Barangay Pinagbuhatan, where the beneficiaries’ homes currently stand.

Holistic support beyond land acquisition

SHFC also provided grants covering the documentary stamp tax on the mortgage of both associations, part of the ECMP’s holistic approach under President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.’s Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program. The program goes beyond land acquisition to uplift the living conditions of participating communities.

“This is truly a perfect Christmas gift for our ECMP communities,” Laxa said. “Through the ECMP, we are not only helping families acquire the land they call home, but we are also strengthening their security of tenure and ensuring a more stable future for them.”

Additional grants reflect SHFC’s commitment to holistic development. Beneficiaries from the two communities are also eligible for water bill discounts under the Enhanced Lifeline Program, a product of a recently signed agreement between SHFC and the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System Regulatory Office.

Community impact and nationwide rollout

The Megaville 2 HOAI comprises 149 members, while Villa Soledad HOAI has 88 members. Both associations previously received Certificates of Lot Award during the National Housing Expo in October.

Last week, SHFC also awarded checks totaling over Php21 million to the Centennial Sunrise HOAI community for property acquisition. These three associations are among the 34 ECMP projects initially approved, set to benefit more than 5,800 families nationwide.
