Morea House opens in Cape Town as new Autograph Collection hotel
Nestled along the striking coastline of Camps Bay, Morea House, Autograph Collection, officially opened its doors, offering 90 rooms that reflect the raw beauty and vibrant spirit of Cape Town. The hotel joins Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio of independent properties, celebrating individuality and authentic experiences.
Camps Bay, framed by the Atlantic Ocean and the Twelve Apostles mountains, offers guests a blend of palm-lined promenades, sun-soaked beaches, and lively cafés, boutiques, and restaurants. Morea House positions itself as a serene base for exploring both the coastal scenery and city energy.

Inspired design rooted in nature
Award-winning Cape Town interior architect Tristan du Plessis designed Morea House as a celebration of contrasts, blending bold, sculptural elements with natural textures. Timber, stone, and bronze tones create refined yet inviting spaces, while organic silhouettes reflect the surrounding environment.
The 90 guestrooms and suites take inspiration from their views, whether mountains, ocean, or sand, featuring bespoke furniture and tactile accents. Public areas unfold as sensory experiences, from expansive terraces to intimate corners highlighting South African artwork. Each detail fosters connection and invites guests to pause and savor life.
General Manager Albert Smit emphasizes that Morea House is a sanctuary where guests can feel restored and reconnected. Whether seeking romance, personal reset, or a base to explore Cape Town’s beaches, vineyards, and mountains, the hotel delivers experiences deeply rooted in place.
Culinary and wellness experiences
Dining at Morea House blends Lebanese and South African coastal flavors. OMRI, on the ground floor, offers modern Lebanese cuisine with local ingredients, paired with a beach-facing terrace and indoor bar. The Pool Restaurant provides seasonal dishes with ocean views and transforms into a sunset cocktail venue.
The Courtyard offers a quiet retreat for reading or afternoon tea, while The Wine Room provides an intimate setting for private tastings. Wellness is central, with sunrise yoga, coastal walks, guided mountain hikes, and signature cold-water Atlantic immersions.
The Spa follows a holistic philosophy, with treatments like the Morea Elemental Flow massage using aromatic fynbos oils and the Morea Ocean Radiance ritual, combining thermal circuits, flowing bodywork, and sound therapy to restore balance.
