PlayStation 5 remains the most searched console worldwide in 2025
The global gaming scene in 2025 saw PlayStation 5 dominate worldwide searches, revealing a strong appetite for next-generation consoles. According to Futbin’s analysis of average monthly Google searches in over 100 countries, millions of gamers actively sought the latest consoles and video games throughout the year.
Interest in video gaming was driven not only by consoles but also by iconic game titles that captivated audiences across continents. The study captured data from more than 150 search terms, including abbreviations and alternate names, offering a detailed look at global gaming trends.

PlayStation 5 leads console searches
PlayStation 5 topped the global charts, ranking as the most searched console in 129 countries, with 11.1 million average monthly searches. The combination of powerful hardware, a steady stream of exclusives, and a robust ecosystem contributed to its worldwide popularity.
Nintendo Switch remained a strong contender, leading searches in 23 countries with 9.14 million monthly searches. Interest in Nintendo Switch 2, reflecting excitement for the next-generation handheld, matched those figures. Xbox Series X completed the top four, leading in 9 countries.
Top sports video games capture global attention
EA Sports FC 25 emerged as the most searched sports title, topping charts in 86 countries with 2.24 million average monthly searches. The game’s global appeal stems from football’s universal reach, yearly innovations, and a thriving player community.
eFootball 2025 ranked second in searches across 65 countries, while eFootball 2024 led in 8 countries, showing that football simulation continues to dominate sports gaming interest worldwide.
Minecraft remains the most searched non-sports video game
In non-sports gaming, Minecraft led the search rankings in 152 countries, thanks to its creativity, accessibility, and enduring appeal across ages. Grand Theft Auto V followed as a global favorite, topping searches in 35 countries.
Futbin spokesperson emphasized the significance of these trends: “PlayStation 5’s lead reflects hardware performance and software exclusives. Minecraft’s popularity highlights the timeless creativity and accessibility of the title. EA Sports FC 25 remains a culturally recognized phenomenon across countries.”
Futbin’s research methodology
The analysis was conducted using Google Keywords Planner, tracking average monthly searches in 100+ countries over the past year ending November 2025. Multiple search terms, including abbreviations and alternate names, were analyzed for each console and game.
56 search terms were examined for consoles, 74 for general video games, and 36 for sports video games. For country-level maps, one common search term per console was used to provide clarity, with light grey areas indicating insufficient data.
