AI helps sari-sari stores boost sales as Packworks reports major gains from data-driven insights
Artificial intelligence is becoming a practical tool for sari-sari stores as AI-driven recommendations help micro-retailers make better decisions and improve daily performance. New analysis from Packworks.io shows how AI is now influencing inventory management, product mix, and overall efficiency for neighborhood stores.
Packworks reviewed the performance of more than 300 stores in its network over a two-week period following data collection in September 2025. The results showed a 46% increase in daily gross merchandise value and a 17% rise in total sales, signaling how AI-supported recommendations can lift store operations even within a short time frame.

Many stores using Packworks’ insights increased revenue despite reducing their active selling days from five to four over the two-week period. The data suggests that AI helped owners manage demand, schedule operations, and optimize their inventory mix to maximize sales during fewer operating hours.
The findings were based on Packworks’ Store Insighting Project document, which turns store transaction history into personalized, AI-generated recommendations. By comparing pre- and post-performance, Packworks recorded stronger sales driven by underperforming products the tool identified, helping retailers understand which items to prioritize to improve efficiency.
AI adoption strengthens store performance
Packworks’ precision marketing tool is part of a wider push to strengthen micro-retail through AI. The tool was developed under DOST-PCIEERD’s Startup Grant Fund Program and supported by STT GDC Philippines’ AI Synergy Lab, where large-scale models were trained. Packworks also partnered with Ateneo’s Business Insights Laboratory for Development to build a unified data warehouse and business intelligence systems.
Store owners who accessed the SIP document reported smarter decision-making and easier operational planning as AI tools highlighted opportunities to increase sales and reduce inefficiencies. Packworks says this is an early sign of how accessible AI can transform microenterprises.
Closing the gap in national AI adoption
While AI could unlock up to PHP 2.8 trillion in economic benefits by 2030, data from PIDS shows that only 14.9% of Philippine businesses currently use AI tools. Packworks aims to bridge this gap by providing practical, easy-to-use solutions tailored for micro-retailers, a sector often left behind in digital innovation.
Company leaders note that their mission aligns with the Philippine Development Plan 2023–2028, which emphasizes digital transformation as a path to greater efficiency and industry revitalization.
Packworks continues to highlight the potential of technology and strategic partnerships in supporting the country’s smallest retailers.
