Green Our Planet wins F1 Allwyn Global Community Award 2025
Green Our Planet has been named the winner of the F1 Allwyn Global Community Award for the 2025 season. The announcement, made during the Formula 1 Heineken Las Vegas Grand Prix, comes with a €100,000 donation from Allwyn to extend the organization’s HydroConnect programme. The initiative empowers students through hands-on STEM and sustainability education.
HydroConnect and student impact
HydroConnect teaches young students to grow food while mastering STEM, nutrition, and sustainable agriculture. The programme addresses inequitable access to quality STEM education and healthy food in under-resourced communities. Green Our Planet operates the largest hydroponics programme in the U.S., reaching over 500,000 students in 1,400+ schools across 44 states, including more than 200 schools in Las Vegas.
The programme has donated hydroponic systems to 32 schools in Las Vegas and provided teacher training for over 24,000 students nationwide. Hydroponics uses the world’s most water-efficient farming methods, conserving up to 90% more water than traditional agriculture — critical in desert climates.
Formula 1 supports Green Our Planet through funding and event partnerships. It sponsors the Giant Student Farmers Market, the largest student-run market in the U.S., held annually in Las Vegas. Students showcase produce grown in school gardens and hydroponic systems, highlighting youth entrepreneurship, sustainability, and community engagement. Formula 1 also installed a hydrophobic micro farm at the track to demonstrate its sustainability commitment.

Recognition and future growth
The F1 Allwyn Global Community Award honours initiatives that positively impact local communities in education, culture, wellbeing, and sustainability. Aleš Veselý, CEO at Sazka, said Green Our Planet exemplifies Allwyn’s ethos of “taking a chance gives you one.” He praised HydroConnect for equipping students with real-world skills while addressing food insecurity and education inequity.
Ellen Jones, Head of ESG at Formula 1, highlighted the programme’s tangible results and innovative approach. Ciara Byrne, representing Green Our Planet, said the recognition will allow the organization to expand hands-on STEM and sustainability education to more students.
This year, four local initiatives were chosen for the F1 Allwyn Global Community Award, with winners from the Netherlands, Austin, Mexico, and Las Vegas. Each receives a €100,000 donation and the opportunity to visit a Formula 1 Grand Prix, reinforcing Formula 1 and Allwyn’s commitment to giving back.
