Muntinlupa ranks among top Philippine cities in fiscal efficiency, earns DOF–BLGF praise
Muntinlupa City has earned national recognition for strong financial governance, securing a spot among the Top 8 cities in Total Current Operating Expenditures per capita for Fiscal Year 2024. The honor came from the Department of Finance’s Bureau of Local Government Finance (DOF–BLGF).
Mayor Ruffy Biazon received the award during the Local Government Finance Forum at SMX Aura in Taguig City. He noted it reflects the city’s disciplined use of public funds and commitment to programs that directly benefit residents.
Efficient spending highlights smart leadership
The ranking measures how much a local government spends relative to its population, showing how well it manages operating costs while maintaining services. Muntinlupa’s performance demonstrates that its budget is used carefully and effectively.
“Sa Muntinlupa, bawat pisong pondo ay may direksyon—para sa kapakanan ng mamamayan,” Biazon said. He added that transparency and accountability remain core to the city’s governance approach.
The award is part of the DOF–BLGF’s national performance system, which evaluates local governments based on revenue growth, income ratios, and operating efficiency.
Recognition reflects long-term consistency
This latest milestone continues Muntinlupa’s streak of governance achievements. The city has previously earned the Seal of Good Local Governance, the Good Financial Housekeeping Award, and Urban Governance Exemplar honors.
Biazon said the financial discipline translates to expanded services in healthcare, education, infrastructure, and welfare. “Sound governance is not just about numbers; it’s about improving lives,” he said, emphasizing that effective spending drives real-world results.
