Canon Europe has expanded its cinema lens lineup with the launch of the CN5x11 IAS T R1/P1, its widest Cine-Servo lens to date. With an 11mm focal length and a 100-degree angle of view, the lens is designed for studio setups, live events, and situations where framing both subject and environment is critical. It is available in RF or PL mount and features Canon’s latest e-Xs V Digital Drive Unit for advanced control and functionality.

Weighing approximately 3kg, the CN5x11 IAS T R1/P1 is the lightest lens in Canon’s Cine-Servo lineup, making it ideal for gimbals, cranes, robotics, wire cams, and shoulder-mounted shooting.

High versatility and cinematic quality

Mark Fensome, Canon Europe’s Product Marketing Specialist, emphasized the lens’s flexibility. “With the CN5x11 IAS T R1/P1’s diverse capability and balanced build, this super-wide 8K Cine-Servo lens offers exceptional edge-to-edge sharpness and image quality, with mobility for broadcast professionals,” he said. “Thanks to the built-in 1.5x extender, the lens can either extend the range for Super 35mm cameras or provide Full Frame compatibility, delivering a shallow depth of field and a cinematic look for live production, newsgathering, documentaries, and dramas.”

The removable servo unit allows operators to configure the lens for cinema or live events. This is the second Cine-Servo lens to include Canon’s e-Xs V Digital Drive Unit, providing ergonomic and precise servo control, responsive iris adjustments, and USB-C connectivity.

Versatile mount options and metadata support

The CN5x11 IAS T R1/P1’s PL mount supports Cooke /i Technology™ and ZEISS eXtended Data™ for real-time metadata output, while the RF mount variant adds Dual Pixel CMOS AF support for fast and smooth autofocus, as well as advanced lens correction data. These features enhance its usability in virtual production and VFX workflows.
