Hong Kong Cyclothon 2025 returns with new routes and World University Trophy
Hong Kong’s largest annual cycling event, the Sun Hung Kai Properties Hong Kong Cyclothon, organized by the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), will return on 30 November 2025. The event combines professional races, scenic rides, and a cycling-themed carnival, offering participants and spectators a full day of sports, entertainment, and cultural experiences. Registration opens on 13 September for local, Mainland, and international cyclists.

50km and 32km rides open to 6,000 cyclists
Cyclists can participate in non-competitive rides along popular city routes. The 50km ride, featuring “four tunnels, three bridges,” and the 32km ride, covering “two tunnels, two bridges,” provide an immersive experience through Hong Kong’s urban landmarks. This year, the 32km ride will host the inaugural World University Trophy, inviting students from universities in Hong Kong, Mainland, and overseas to compete in a challenge blending sports, tourism, and cultural exchange.
The City Cycling Challenge around Greater Bay Area (Hong Kong) – Sun Hung Kai Properties Men’s and Women’s Open will feature extended and more demanding courses, departing from traditional circuits. Riders will race across iconic landmarks including the Former Kowloon-Canton Railway Clock Tower, International Commerce Centre (ICC), and Tsing Ma Bridge, providing a mix of challenging terrain and spectacular views of Hong Kong’s skyline.
Cyclothon Carnival at West Kowloon
The HKTB will host a Cyclothon Carnival at the West Kowloon Cultural District’s Art Park, offering music, sports performances, food booths, interactive sports experiences, face painting, and balloon art workshops. Races will be livestreamed on giant screens, allowing visitors to follow the action while enjoying the festivities.
HKTB Chairman Dr. Peter Lam said, “The Hong Kong Cyclothon is a highlight of our sporting calendar, showcasing the city’s ability to blend sport with tourism. This year emphasizes mass participation and university engagement, reinforcing Hong Kong’s global presence in cycling events.”
