Electronic pioneers Sketch Show — the duo of Yukihiro Takahashi and Haruomi Hosono — are unlocking the vault for a global audience. For one night only, the group’s celebrated 2002 concert film WILD SKETCH SHOW – SKETCH SHOW LIVE 2002 will stream worldwide on YouTube at 8:00 PM (JST) on Friday, September 19, marking the anniversary of their debut album audio sponge.

Originally issued only on DVD in 2003, this full-length performance from Tokyo’s Shibuya AX has been a long-held treasure among fans; the upcoming stream is the first official global online showing.

The December 2002 Shibuya AX date captured Sketch Show at the peak of their live experimentation, backed by a guest-studded lineup that included Keigo Oyamada (Cornelius), guitarist Hirofumi Tokutake, and a special appearance by Ryuichi Sakamoto. The performance blends intricate staging and pioneering sound design, offering a rare window into early-2000s Japanese electronic innovation.

Bridging past and present for fans worldwide

This premiere gives longtime followers a chance to relive an iconic moment and offers new listeners an accessible entry point to Sketch Show’s visionary work. Streaming on YouTube makes the performance available across time zones and generations — a fitting tribute to a concert that helped shape modern electronic music in Japan and beyond.
