TASC announced as Diamond Sponsor of Carbon Markets Africa Summit 2025 in Johannesburg
The organizers of the Carbon Markets Africa Summit 2025 have announced TASC as the event’s diamond sponsor. Taking place in Johannesburg from 22–23 October, the summit will convene the full carbon market value chain, from developers and regulatory bodies to investors, financial institutions, and global organizations.

Driving scalable carbon impact
“At its core, TASC is community-driven and rooted in rigorous carbon science,” says Shelley Estcourt, TASC’s CEO for Africa. “We deliver high-integrity, high-impact carbon projects at scale. Historically, our focus has been cookstoves, but our GRASS project shows our ability to diversify significantly.”
The GRASS (Grassland Restoration and Stewardship in South Africa) Project tackles the effects of climate change by restoring degraded rangelands, improving soil health, boosting biodiversity, and building resilience for farmers. It is the world’s first initiative registered under Verra’s VM0042 methodology, ensuring certified carbon credits backed by robust monitoring.
Clean cookstoves: 950,000 households reached
TASC is also recognized globally for its clean cookstove initiative, which won the 2023 Environmental Finance Voluntary Carbon Market Award. The project, supported by Standard Bank, has distributed more than 950,000 cookstoves to rural households in South Africa, improving health outcomes and reducing carbon emissions.
“The award enabled us to repay early-stage financing and scale the program significantly,” notes Estcourt. “Today, we’re improving lives across South Africa while driving measurable climate benefits.”

As diamond sponsor, TASC will play a central role in the summit, which Estcourt describes as “an important opportunity to bring thought leaders, developers, policymakers, and buyers into one room.”
