MPCALA wins two Green Awards for sustainability efforts in Santa Rosa
MPCALA Holdings Inc., concessionaire of the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) and a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation, has once again been recognized for its strong commitment to sustainability. On August 15, 2025, the company was honored with two Green Awards from the City Government of Santa Rosa, marking its third consecutive year of recognition.
The Santa Rosa City Green Awards program highlights organizations and individuals who excel in environmental protection and sustainability efforts. This year, MPCALA received two notable honors. The first was a Plaque of Appreciation as a Sustainable Development Partner, awarded for the company’s consistent participation in conservation activities such as clean-up drives, tree planting initiatives, and its active role in the International Coastal Cleanup.

Earth Hour Advocate Award highlights energy conservation
The second award, the Earth Hour Advocate Award, recognized MPCALA’s support of the global Earth Hour movement. The company actively promotes energy conservation by encouraging communities and industries along the CALAX corridor to switch off non-essential lights, underscoring the importance of reducing energy consumption to combat climate change.
MPCALA also integrates sustainability into its infrastructure development. Its green expressway design includes renewable energy technologies and nature-inspired features that not only lower carbon emissions but also enhance the driving experience.
“These recognitions are more than just honors; they are responsibilities that we embrace wholeheartedly. These awards affirm the direction we’ve taken in ensuring that our expressways are built with the environment and the communities in mind,” said Arlette V. Capistrano, Vice President for Communication and Stakeholder Management at MPCALA Holdings Inc.
Santa Rosa City’s call to beat plastic pollution
Santa Rosa Mayor Arlene B. Arcillas emphasized that the Green Awards go beyond recognition, serving as a call to action for sustainable development. She highlighted the 2025 theme, Ending plastic pollution: #beatplasticpollution, noting the urgent need to reduce single-use plastics.
“Environmental protection is not a responsibility of a few. It is a shared duty. Every act of conservation, every step away from single-use plastics is a step towards a greener and healthier future,” Arcillas said.
With these awards, MPCALA reinforces its dedication to sustainability, demonstrating its role as not just an infrastructure developer but also a community partner in building an eco-friendly future.
