Morong, Rizal and Mambajao, Camiguin have taken a major leap in emergency response by enabling residents and visitors to make 911 calls and reports through their preferred messaging apps, starting with Facebook Messenger.

This upgrade comes through NGA 911 Philippines’ NEXiS Message platform, an advanced, cloud-native emergency communications system that unifies calls, texts, video, and multimedia sharing into a single secure interface.

From multiple apps to one secure system

Before the integration, emergency responders had to monitor several platforms separately—often causing delays and data security risks. Now, calls for help via Messenger, text, or video can be received in one place, with end-to-end encryption ensuring the privacy of personal details such as names, addresses, and incident specifics.

“This ensures that all information – including photos, videos and files shared by constituents – is protected,” said Robert Llaguno, NGA 911 Philippines Country Head. “LGUs no longer need a dedicated station for each messaging app. All communications are managed from a single interface, improving efficiency and response times.”

Making emergency calls more accessible

The feature caters to citizens who are more comfortable using social media rather than traditional phone calls. Using Messenger, they can now send text, voice, or video reports, share files, and relay location data directly to their LGU’s 911 center.

The system also boosts inter-agency collaboration and crisis management by ensuring that all reports are securely logged and instantly available to responders.

“This is the future of emergency response enjoyed by developed countries, and it is now in the Philippines,” Llaguno added.
