AfDB president mourns Ghana helicopter crash victims, offers condolences

African Development Bank Group (AfDB) president Dr. Akinwumi Adesina has expressed deep sorrow following the fatal helicopter crash in Ghana on Wednesday that claimed the lives of eight people, including two senior government ministers.
According to Adesina, the tragedy, which took the lives of Defence Minister Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, marks a devastating moment for the nation. He described the incident as “devastating news and a national tragedy” in a statement released shortly after reports emerged.
AfDB extends sympathy to Ghana’s leaders and citizens
Adesina emphasized that the African Development Bank stands in solidarity with Ghana during this time of loss. Speaking on behalf of himself, his wife Grace, and the AfDB staff, management, and Boards of Directors, he extended condolences to President John Mahama, the bereaved families, and the Ghanaian people.
He added prayers for strength and comfort to be granted to the families of the victims and for the souls of the departed to rest in peace.
