Hong Kong celebrates panda twins’ first birthday with citywide party and LABUBU toy launch
Hong Kong is turning up the charm this summer to celebrate the first birthday of its beloved panda twins, Jia Jia and De De. Born on 15 August 2024 to longtime Ocean Park residents Ying Ying and Le Le, the twin cubs have become icons of the city’s wildlife conservation efforts and a source of delight for locals and tourists alike.

LABUBU x Panda Twins vinyl toy adds charm to birthday celebration
To mark the milestone, the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) and Ocean Park have joined forces with LABUBU creator Kasing Lung to release a birthday-edition LABUBU x Panda Twins vinyl toy. Featuring a bamboo-colored LABUBU in a party hat holding the adorable twins, the collectible comes in a custom gift box with a birthday card signed by Lung himself.
From 25 July, visitors to Ocean Park can pre-register online for a lucky draw running from 1 to 31 August, with around 300 gift boxes up for grabs. A limited number of additional boxes will be distributed during the birthday weekend, from 15 to 17 August. This exclusive collaboration not only promotes Hong Kong as a joyful travel destination but also highlights its creative spirit and love for wildlife.
Citywide birthday fun at Ocean Park and beyond
Ocean Park will be at the heart of the celebrations, hosting the Panda Friends Summer Splash in collaboration with LINE FRIENDS. Attractions include the Ball Pit Party, the water-filled Panda Friends Splash Playground, and an all-out Water Battle Zone. Panda-themed games, exclusive giveaways, and photo-worthy displays will bring the park to life throughout August.
As night falls, the Gala of Lights – Panda Birthday Edition will light up Ocean Park with projections, fountains, and music dedicated to Jia Jia and De De. Visitors from 15 to 17 August may also receive surprise birthday gifts during their visit.

Across Hong Kong, panda fever continues with themed MTR station takeovers, panda-inspired street signs, and more. Meanwhile, exclusive merchandise like plush toys of the twins in kindergarten uniforms and themed snacks add to the festive atmosphere. The “Twin Park Package Ticket” offers added value, giving guests access to both Ocean Park and Water World over a seven-day window.
For panda lovers and visitors alike, this is one summer celebration not to miss. Plan your trip, follow the panda trail, and enter the lucky draw for a chance to bring home a rare LABUBU x Panda Twins collectible.
