Once infamous for its maze-like corridors and reputation as a lawless enclave, Kowloon Walled City has been reimagined as a one-of-a-kind immersive experience with “Kowloon Walled City: A Cinematic Journey”. Launched on May 23, 2025, the movie set exhibition is now open to the public for a three-year run at the very site where the Walled City once stood—Kowloon Walled City Park.
Inspired by the 2024 action hit Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In, this exhibition marks the largest movie set recreation ever staged in Hong Kong. Visitors can walk through meticulously reconstructed 1980s alleyways and authentic storefronts straight from the film, including a barber shop, tailor, bone-setting clinic and fish ball factory.

Explore local heritage and cinematic nostalgia
More than just a tribute to an iconic film, the Kowloon Walled City exhibition connects visitors with the deep cultural layers of Kowloon City. The exhibition is open daily and admission is free, making it an accessible way to relive the city’s gritty past while celebrating its cinematic rebirth.
Visitors can extend their journey by exploring nearby cultural treasures. Historic sites like Hau Wong Temple (built in 1730) offer a glimpse of ancient craftsmanship, while Cattle Depot Artist Village brings a contemporary twist with experimental galleries and homegrown talent. Inside Sung Wong Toi MTR Station, the Treasures from Sacred Hill exhibit displays relics from the Song and Yuan dynasties, tracing Kowloon’s history through archeological finds.

For a quieter coffee break, Tai Wo Tang blends traditional architecture with modern café culture, while Tei Mou Koon Dessert satisfies with time-tested Cantonese sweets.
Shopping in Kowloon City ranges from street-level Thai grocers in “Little Thailand” to next-gen malls like AIRSIDE and Kai Tak Mall. AIRSIDE blends sustainability and design with international retail and family-friendly experiences, while Kai Tak Mall features over 200 brands, an indoor theme park and even a climbing wall for adrenaline lovers.
From cinematic immersion to cultural discovery, Kowloon City is more than just a destination—it’s an experience that blends the past, present and future of Hong Kong.
