The Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) expressed deep gratitude to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for greenlighting the funding for the FIVB Men’s World Championship 2025, which the country will host for the first time from September 12 to 28.
“Our heartfelt gratitude to the President for his very significant support for the world championship,” said PNVF head Ramon “Tats” Suzara, who also leads the Local Organizing Committee (LOC). He also acknowledged First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos, highlighting her continued support for volleyball.
Historic Support from Top Government Leaders
Malacañang formalized its approval in a memo signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin and addressed to DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman and PSC Chairman Richard Bachmann.
“The Philippine sports community is deeply grateful for President Marcos’ commitment to a historic and excellent hosting of the 2025 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championships,” said Bachmann, who also serves on the LOC board.
Joining Bachmann in leading the LOC are high-profile figures including Vinny Marcos, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, DOT Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco, and sports patron Manny V. Pangilinan.
Alas Pilipinas Leads the Nation’s Charge
Official ambassadors and national team standouts Bryan Bagunas and Eya Laure have voiced their appreciation for the President’s commitment. Bagunas emphasized that the backing significantly boosts the morale of the Alas Pilipinas teams heading into the tournament.
The championship will welcome 32 teams—including the host squad—at two key venues: the Smart Araneta Coliseum and the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
As preparations intensify, the Alas Pilipinas Invitationals will kick off this Tuesday, marking the countdown to the world-class volleyball event.
The tournament’s groundwork was initially laid by Administrative Order No. 30, which mandates full support from 17 government agencies. The Philippine Sports Commission has been appointed as the Task Force secretariat to oversee the historic event.
