Mafia: The Old Country set to revive classic mob drama on next-gen platforms this August
2K and Hangar 13 have officially announced Mafia: The Old Country, the next chapter in the acclaimed Mafia franchise, set to release worldwide on August 8, 2025. The game will be available on PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and NVIDIA GeForce NOW.
Revealed alongside a gameplay trailer and a ‘Breaking Omerta’ Developer Insights video, Mafia: The Old Country promises an emotional, linear narrative rooted in early 1900s Sicily. It tells the origin story of Enzo Favara, a young man climbing the ranks of Don Torrisi’s brutal crime family.
According to Hangar 13 President Nick Baynes, the game delivers “gritty, grounded, brutal and emotional” storytelling backed by refined Mafia gameplay. Featuring hand-to-hand combat, intense gunfights, horseback riding, and era-authentic vehicles, the game blends cinematic realism with high-stakes action.

Built with Unreal Engine 5, the game sets a new visual and mechanical standard for the franchise. The ‘Breaking Omerta’ video provides a behind-the-scenes look into Hangar 13’s meticulous recreation of Sicilian architecture, environments, and culture for a richly immersive mafia experience.
Two editions of the game are available for pre-order now. The Standard Edition includes the full base game for $49.99, while the $59.99 Deluxe Edition features the Padrino Pack, the Gatto Nero Pack, and digital bonuses such as a digital artbook and original score.
Players who pre-order either edition will also receive the Soldato Pack, containing bonus items like the “Soldato” Outfit, “Scannaturi Speciale” Knife, and exclusive horse accessories. The game is rated M for Mature and will be accessible via code for both digital and physical pre-orders.
2K President David Ismailer emphasized the importance of delivering highly-polished, story-driven games that don’t require massive time commitments. With over 38 million copies sold since the franchise began in 2002, Mafia: The Old Country marks a major evolution in the series.
