2025 Tony Awards celebrate Latino talent, NHMC shows support
The National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) proudly celebrates the 2025 Tony Awards nominations, which prominently feature Latino stories and talents, marking a pivotal moment in Broadway history.
In a statement released today, Brenda Victoria Castillo, NHMC President and CEO, congratulated the nominees and applauded Broadway’s increasing embrace of Latino narratives:
“Today’s nominations reflect the vibrancy of our Latino stories, transcending film and television, and being recognized and enjoyed on Broadway.”

Spotlight on ‘Real Women Have Curves: The Musical’
NHMC extended special congratulations to Real Women Have Curves: The Musical, a production celebrated for its authentic portrayal of Latina womanhood. The show earned two Tony nominations:

Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical for Justina Machado, an NHMC Visionary Alliance Member.

Best Original Score (Music and/or Lyrics) Written for the Theatre for Joy Huerta and Benjamin Velez.
The production is also the recipient of an NHMC Impacts New York Award, emphasizing its cultural and artistic impact.
