The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has forecasted continued rainy weather across several regions on Saturday, with three weather systems affecting the country.

Weather systems causing rains

  • Shear line effects: Mainland Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, and Camarines Norte will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the shear line.
  • Easterlies influence: Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are also expected in Caraga and Palawan due to the easterlies.
  • Northeast monsoon impact: Batanes and the Babuyan Islands will have cloudy skies with light rains brought by the northeast monsoon.

The northeast monsoon and easterlies are expected to bring rain over several provinces.

PAGASA has warned that these areas may experience flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rainfall.

Other areas affected

The northeast monsoon will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over the rest of Cagayan Valley, Ilocos, and Cordillera regions.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and most of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies.

Wind and sea conditions

  • Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas are expected over Northern and Central Luzon.
  • Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas will prevail across the rest of the country.

Extreme heat warning in Dagupan City

Despite the rainy conditions in some areas, Dagupan City is expected to experience a “dangerous” heat index of 42°C until Sunday, according to PAGASA. Residents are advised to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged sun exposure to prevent heat-related illnesses.
