Teledyne e2v unveils Lince5M NIR: A high-speed CMOS Image Sensor with enhanced NIR performance

Teledyne e2v, a Teledyne Technologies [NYSE: TDY] company and a global leader in imaging solutions, has introduced the Lince5M NIR, a state-of-the-art high-speed CMOS image sensor optimized for visible and near-infrared (NIR) imaging. Designed for industrial, commercial, and medical applications, this advanced sensor delivers exceptional speed, resolution, and low-light performance.

Unmatched Performance in Speed and Low-Light Imaging

The Lince5M NIR is a monochrome image sensor with a 5.2-megapixel resolution (2,560 x 2,048), leveraging Teledyne e2v’s advanced imaging technologies to achieve high Quantum Efficiency (35% at 850 nm). This enables sharp, high-speed image capture even in low-light conditions. Key performance highlights include:

  • Ultra-Fast Imaging – Delivers 250 fps at full resolution (12-bit ADC) using 24 LVDS output channels.
  • Superior High Dynamic Range (HDR) – Standard mode offers 55 dB, while HDR mode exceeds 100 dB, allowing clear capture of high-contrast scenes.
  • Optimized for Industrial and Scientific Use – Ideal for motion capture, sport analytics, industrial metrology, retinal imaging, and intelligent traffic monitoring.

Seamless Integration and Robust Design

The Lince5M NIR is designed with ease of integration in mind, featuring:

  • Compact and Durable Package – Housed in a 28 x 28 mm 181 PGA (Pin-Grid Array) ceramic package for enhanced durability.
  • Broad Lens Compatibility – Features a 1-inch optical format, supporting cost-effective C-mount lenses.
  • Wide Operating Temperature Range – Functions from -40°C to 125°C, making it ideal for both indoor and outdoor applications.

Industry Insights from Teledyne e2v

François Trolez, Marketing Manager at Teledyne e2v, highlighted the sensor’s unique value:

“We are very pleased to release Lince5M NIR, specifically designed to offer high-speed imaging beyond the visible spectrum with superior performance in the near-infrared region. With its robust design, Lince5M NIR meets the demands of both industrial and commercial applications. Camera manufacturers currently using our Lince5M will find it easy to transition, as both products share identical mechanical and electrical interfaces.”

Showcasing at Vision China 2025

Teledyne e2v will showcase the Lince5M NIR at Vision China in Shanghai from 26-28 March 2025.
