WATWING Joins +WHAX Label with Winter Single and New Photo
Japanese boyband WATWING has kicked off a new chapter in their career, announcing their move to the label +WHAX (pronounced “Plus Wax”) during their recent concert at Makuhari Messe, Chiba, on November 9 and 10. This exciting development follows the successful completion of their nationwide WATWING LIVE TOUR 2024 – Get Em Back – and their ongoing rise in popularity.
WATWING, which was formed in June 2019, made history as the first boyband of the renowned Japanese agency Horipro. The group consists of six talented members: Ryo Furuhata, Asahi Suzuki, Fu Takahashi, Rintaro Hachimura, Ryuta Kuwayama, and Noa Fukuzawa Nozomi. These members were the winners of the Star Boys Audition, a competition aimed at discovering the stars of Japan’s music scene.
As the group celebrates its 5th anniversary this year, WATWING has been riding high on success, including a sold-out show at the iconic Nippon Budokan in Tokyo earlier this year. They also embarked on their first nationwide seven-city hall tour, which began in August 2024, demonstrating their immense popularity across Japan.
At the final day of their Makuhari Messe performances, the group revealed their exciting new move to +WHAX, a label known for its innovative approach to the music industry. Alongside the announcement, WATWING teased their fans with news of their upcoming winter 2024 digital single and an EP set for release in spring 2025.
The group also unveiled a stunning new group photo that reflects their evolution as artists. Fans are eagerly anticipating what’s next for WATWING as they continue to grow in both Japan and internationally.
The name “WATWING” combines “WAT,” a slang term for “what,” and “WING,” symbolizing the group’s desire to stay true to themselves and soar to new heights despite any challenges they may face.
Stay tuned for more updates on WATWING’s upcoming releases and exciting new chapter with +WHAX!
