CALAX honored for excellence in Sustainability and Tourism in South Luzon
The Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX), operated by Metro Pacific Tollways South, has been recognized for its outstanding efforts in promoting tourism and sustainability in South Luzon. The expressway recently earned accolades at two prestigious events: the Cavite Tourism Excellence Awards and the Green Awards hosted by the Sta. Rosa City Government.
CALAX’s Contribution to Tourism in Cavite
At the Cavite Tourism Excellence Awards, CALAX received a plaque of appreciation for its long-term partnership in boosting the tourism industry across the province. This recognition highlights CALAX’s initiatives aimed at promoting travel and supporting the local economy through its Biyaheng South program.
A key element of the program is the Cavite Tourism Passport, an innovative campaign designed to encourage visitors to explore Cavite’s tourist attractions. The passport-like booklet allows travelers to collect stamps from participating destinations, enhancing their journey with a sense of adventure and discovery. By promoting these attractions, CALAX supports local businesses and cultural landmarks, contributing to the economic growth of the region.
Green Awards Recognition for Sustainability Efforts
CALAX also garnered recognition at the Green Awards as a Sustainable Development Partner. The award, presented by the Sta. Rosa City Government, celebrates organizations that demonstrate a commitment to environmental sustainability. Known as the “green expressway”, CALAX integrates eco-friendly practices into its design and operations, including the use of renewable energy and nature-focused landscaping.
The expressway’s sustainability efforts go beyond infrastructure, encompassing corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives such as the Linis Barangay cleanup program, tree planting activities, and participation in the annual International Coastal Cleanup. These programs not only improve the environment but also engage communities in conservation efforts, underscoring CALAX’s role in building a more sustainable future.
Strengthening South Luzon’s Sustainable and Tourism-Focused Development
Arlette V. Capistrano, Vice President for Communication and Stakeholder Management at MPT South, expressed the company’s gratitude for the recognitions, stating, “We are honored to be acknowledged for our contributions to tourism and environmental sustainability in South Luzon. Our commitment goes beyond mobility—we are dedicated to creating opportunities and a brighter future for the communities we serve.”
These awards underscore CALAX’s dual focus on sustainable infrastructure development and tourism enhancement, setting a benchmark for integrating economic growth with environmental stewardship. The expressway plays a vital role in connecting travelers to the hidden gems of Cavite and promoting a green lifestyle.
