Learning Business by Doing Business All Over the World

by Vincent Juico

Not exactly all over the world, well, almost. Almost means in 7 countries namely, the US, Italy, Singapore, Brazil, India, UAE, and Ghana. The 7 aforementioned nations are where the maiden batch of Tetr College of Business students from 45 countries will be traveling to. These nations will serve as “campuses” cultivating and honing young minds.

The 7 destinations are a mix of developed and developing countries, different cultures, and each of them will be bringing something different to the student’s table as far as learning is concerned.

The initial batch of students went through a rigorous and thorough admissions and vetting process wherein only 2.6 percent of the more than 15,000 applications were accepted from Southeast Asia 100,000 from all over the world. You do the math readers.

Now, remember when we were children and we were immersed in learning through playing in our formative years? Tetr College of Business is all about learning but not learning by playing, it is learning by doing, doing business across the globe. Each country has different ways of working. Each nation has different ways and means of doing business and the students will be exposed to professors who are accomplished practitioners in their respective core competencies.

Founder of Tetr College of Business Pratham Mittal’s thought process was, when he founded the school was, a different way of learning. More practice and not a lot of theory. That travelling to other countries will broaden the horizons of the students as they meet their peers from other cultures and establish lifelong relationships.

According to the college’s press release, “Tetr College of Business, a first-of-its-kind global business school, announced the composition and profile of its first undergraduate global cohort. This diverse cohort of 80+ dynamic young leaders includes climate activists, venture-backed entrepreneurs, social media influencers, global TEDx speakers, and national chess champions. Hailing from across the world, the maiden batch features students from 40 countries including the US, India, Turkey, Poland, UK, UAE, Germany, South Korea, Japan, Italy and Singapore. With the launch of its global business program, Tetr has attracted over 15,000 applications from the South East Asian region alone.”

If you’re attracting 15,000 applicants then you must be doing something right. It is a good problem to have if you’re an institution of higher learning. The quality of applicants chose Tetr over offers from prestigious institutions.

To expound on the admissions process, the release continues, “Students were selected through a rigorous process that included an application form and the unique AI-powered ‘Tetr Trial’, a 45-minute evaluation which tests candidates on critical thinking, business acumen, entrepreneurial pursuits, academics, and extracurricular activities. Also part of the selection process were interviews with industry leaders such as Dr. Edward Rogers, Former Chief Knowledge Officer at NASA; Viney Sawhney, Professor at Harvard University; and Nitin Gaur, Advisory Board Member at Stanford University. The current cohort boasts an acceptance rate of 2.6% with an average SAT score of 1475, with many students even turning down offers from prestigious institutions like Dartmouth, King’s College, Imperial, and Warwick to join Tetr.”

In the podcast, Our Daily News Online, we asked Tetr College of Business Founder Pratham Mittal about the school’s partnerships with other universities, “Tetr College of Business’ partnerships with top universities like the National University of Singapore (NUS), SDA Bocconi, UBI Business School, the Indian Institute of Technology, and the strong entrepreneurial ecosystem in Singapore are key highlights of the program. Students will benefit from the vibrant business landscapes of South East Asia, gaining practical knowledge by building an e-commerce business in Dubai and leveraging Silicon Valley’s ecosystem for a tech startup.

Quoting the last portion of the press release which was similar to Pratham’s thoughts, excitement, and enthusiasm about the whole thing, “Pratham Mittal, Founder, Tetr College of Business, said, “Creating a well-rounded first cohort of exceptional talent from across the globe was our primary focus. Beyond academic excellence, we sought students who have ventured into unique paths and embraced diverse experiences. We are excited to welcome 80+ such exceptional individuals, many of whom had offers from some of the most prestigious global institutions. This blend of academic rigor, entrepreneurial drive, and unique experiences makes them ideal candidates to thrive in our program and emerge as future leaders in business and society.”

When I was the age of the 80+ young minds that were about to embark on a remarkable journey, my parents advised me, “take advantage of your youth” and that is exactly what these young men and women will be doing.
