49-Year-Old Sex Offender Charged After Cops’ Gruesome Discovery
A 49-year-old man has been charged with two counts of aggravated animal cruelty and possession of cocaine after Walton County Sheriff deputies made a gruesome discovery at the sex offender’s home in Florida.
He was identified as Eric Antonio Roberts of Honeysuckle Street in DeFuniak Springs. Per reports, he was issued a $15,000 bond and is still incarcerated at the time of this writing.
It was on Friday, July 28, when Florida deputies conducted a welfare check on Roberts at his home. When they arrived, they noticed a strong odor coming from inside the home.
The 49-year-old was not inside at the time so police made entry into the home. Inside, they discovered two dead dogs in the kennel.
It was added that the dogs were chained together using a padlock and reportedly did not have access to food or water. Electricity had been turned off and the backdoor was also allegedly padlocked.
After the discovery, the deputies checked with local hospitals and families to track down the sex offender.
They eventually found Roberts at a gas station on Highway 90. When they talked to the 49-year-old, it was confirmed that the deceased dogs were his.
It was added that as he was being arrested, the sex offender started reaching toward his pocket. Cocaine was found inside a glass case that Roberts was trying to retrieve during his arrest.
