Cyclone Gulab about to make landfall in India’s eastern, south-eastern coasts

NEW DELHI – The Cyclone Gulab is expected to make landfall on Sunday (Sept. 26) evening in India’s eastern and south-eastern coastal states of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the deep depression over the Bay of Bengal intensified into the cyclone Gulab on Saturday, following which an orange alert was issued for northern parts of the Andhra Pradesh state and the adjoining southern coastal areas of Odisha state.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, and took stock of the situation arising in the wake of the cyclone. The Prime Minister also assured all possible support from the federal government. (Xinhua)
