COTABATO CITY – Another resident of this city has been tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), the Department of Health-Region 12 said on Saturday.

Authorities believed local transmission has infected a nine-month-old baby boy who had close contact with an 11-year-old girl earlier tested positive of the virus.

Still waiting for the patient’s number, the baby is the 24th confirmed Covid-19 positive in the region and the tenth for Cotabato City.

The boy is in stable condition, according to the DOH-12 situation report dated May 23.

“The baby boy has a history of exposure to the 23rd Covid-19 patient,” Arjohn Gangoso, DOH-12 spokesperson, said.

The 23rd patient is an 11-year-old girl, also from Cotabato City, who had a close association with the 17th Covid-19 male patient in the region.

The 17th Covid-positive case is an employee of the Cotabato City government and the city’s eighth confirmed patient.

To date, Cotabato City has 10 confirmed Covid-19 patients, six of whom have recovered.

More so, Region 12 has 24 confirmed Covid-19 positive patients. Of this number, 16 have recovered and only one confirmed Covid-19 patient has died.

Region 12, more known as the Soccsksargen region, comprises the provinces of North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat and Sarangani; and the cities of Cotabato, Kidapawan, Tacurong, Koronadal and General Santos. (PNA)
