In view of the ongoing Enhanced Community Quarantine, the Commander Naval Forces Central through the leadership of Commander Central Command deployed its SEAL Team under Naval Special Operations Unit (NAVSOU) 5 to conduct Seaborne Securiy Patrol along Mactan, Olango and Hilutungan channels which aims to “deter/preempt and intercept the entry and exit of unauthorized vessels and lawless elements to and from the vicinity of Mactan-Olango-Hilutungan Channel”.
NAVSOU 5- SEAL Team, led by LT Rege Arlie B Saytas PN with his six (6) SEAL members executue the seaborne security patrol untilizing their rigid hull inflatable boat (RHIB) to monitor maritime activities in accordance with the guidelines of enhanced community quarantine suspending all sea travels in and out of Visayas.
Moreover, the Navy SEALs successfully accomplished their mandated mission in securing Mactan, Olango and Hilutugan Channels with no eports of violations/illegal activities transpired in the area. While in the conduct of said mission, the SEALs distributed relief goods to the local fishermen fishing at the vicinity. It is said that the team has already planned it out beforehand to integrate a simpleact of charity in the mission amidst COVID-19 crisis.
