Chris Evans ‘Defending Jacob’ Series Launches First Teaser
Apple TV+ has released the trailer for its upcoming series Defending Jacob which they will be released in their new streaming platform soon. The limited series is headlined by Avengers star Chris Evans and Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery, alongside Jaeden Martell, Pablo Schreiber, Cherry Jones, Sakina Jaffrey, Betty Gabriel and J.K. Simmons.
The upcoming drama series, based on the novel written by William Landay and released in store shelves in 2012, is described as a highly anticipated eight-episode, gripping, character-driven drama. Defending Jacob will premiere with three episodes exclusively on Apple TV+ on April 24, followed by new episodes weekly every Friday through May 29.
Defending Jacob unfolds around a shocking crime that rocks a small Massachusetts town, and follows assistant district attorney Andy Barber (Evans), who finds himself torn between his sworn duty to uphold justice and his unconditional love for his son, Jacob (Martell).
“There’s gotta be an explanation. They got to the same school. Jacob is in his class,” Andy says in the trailer.
“I swear, I didn’t do it,” Jacob insists.
“It’s a mistake. I’m gonna figure it out,” Andy tells his wife Laurie (Dockery).
“Remember that in their eyes, it isn’t just Jacob who is guilty. You all are,” said Cherry Jones’ character Joanna Klein.
The series was filmed in April 2019 in Massachusetts. It was created, written and executive produced by Mark Bomback, who also serves as showrunner. All eight episodes of the series are directed by Academy Award nominee Morten Tyldum, who also serves as executive producer.
