5,000 athletes to compete in Batang Pinoy National Championships

Over 5,000 athletes from all over the country are expected to participate in the PSC’s national youth sporting event for 15 years old and below.

Batang Pinoy Secretariat Head Manuel Bitog announced this, following the series of Delegation Registration Meetings in Mindanao, Visayas, South Luzon and North Luzon since the start of the month.

“We are looking at more than 5,000 athlete-participants in Palawan. Our series of delegation registration meetings since the start of July has helped the PSC to clearly determine the number and profile of competing athletes in the games,” said Bitog.

The PSC started its DRMs in Mindanao last July 3 to 5 at the Pinnacle Hotel, Davao City, followed by Visayas last July 10 to 12 at the Cebu City Sports Complex.

South Luzon was its third stop last July 17 to 19 at Lipa City Youth & Cultural Center and North Luzon last July 24 to 26 at the Provincial Employment & Skills Development Center (PESDC), Narciso Ramos Sports & Civic Center in Lingayen, Pangasinan.

Bitog also announced the PSC’s strict implementation of ‘Zero Plastic Policy’ on the duration of the games, as mandated by Presidential Proclamation No. 760 of 2014 and Republic Act 9003 also known as the “Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.”

The national championships happening at Puerto Prinsesa, Palawan on August 25 to 31, will feature 31 sports, with cycling, gymnastics, judo, billiards, muay thai, rugby football, triathlon, soft tennis, weightlifting, wrestling and wushu to be played straight in the games.
