Superman actor Henry Cavill is playing another iconic role. He’s been cast as Sherlock Holmes in the upcoming adaptation of “Enola Holmes,” the mystery novel about Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes youngest sister.

Cavill’s casting was announced on Variety along with news that filming will begin this summer. “Stranger Things” star Millie Bobby Brown will play the titular role. Helena Bonham Carter has also been picked to play Enola’s mother.

Aimed at young adults, Enola Holmes was nominated for the Edgar Awards for Best Juvenile Mystery. Receptions for the stories have been mostly positive as Enola is described as a bright and endearing character.

Harry Bradbeer will helm “Enola Holmes” while Jack Thorne has been tasked to write the screenplay. The film is from Legendary and will be released as a series of movies. It has been pegged as the next successful franchise after “Harry Potter.”

Cavill has recently wrapped up filming “The Witcher” TV series adaptation for Netflix. Based on the books by Andrzej Sapkowsk, the show is slated to run in late 2019 or early 2020.

Brown, on the other hand, has “Stranger Things” season 3 premiering this July. The show also airs on Netflix.
