UAAP Volleyball: Ateneo, UST looking to bring players’ parents to Manila

In a touching and admirable gesture, the UST and Ateneo communities have joined forces to bring parents of current UAAP volleyball players to Manila for them to be able watch the games live and have a memorable experience.
In a Facebook post by UST professor Faye Martel on Saturday, she urged supporters to get the parents of Tigresses Sisi Rondina, Dimdim Pacres, and Alina Bicar to witness Game 2 of the best-of-3 UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball finals slated on Wednesday, May 15.
“The UST Community (Former Athletes, Alumni, Supporters) and a number of ADMU Community Supporters are currently working together to get Sisi Rondina’s parents and family members to Manila and watch her play on Wednesday, May 15, 2019.
At hindi lang po para kay Sisi. Pati po ang pamilya ni Dimdim Pacres at Alina Bicar ay pinagtutulungan din po na makarating dito sa Manila ngayong Tuesday, May 14, 2019!,” the post read.
Per ABS-CBN Sports’ Mark Escarlote, an anonymous source from UST also confirmed that they will be shouldering air fare expenses of the parents of Rondina and Bicar, who hail from Cebu and Samar, respectively.
Behind Rondina, the Tigresses drew first blood in the championship opener, sweeping the Lady Eagles in straight sets for a 1-0 lead.
Rondina is a Palarong Pambansa legend, having played for Team Region 7 (Central Visayas) in 2013 alongside Pacres and another Tigress, Rica Rivera.
The gesture only proved that sports is a powerful tool and medium that could unite and bring people together.
