‘Bond 25’ Reveals Plot, Full Cast With Rami Malek As Villain

Rumors buzzed for months that Rami Malek would board “Bond 25” as the villain. A press release on Thursday to unveil the full cast finally confirmed that the “Bohemian Rhapsody” star is indeed joining the Daniel Craig-led film.

According to Variety,  production has actually started for “Bond 25” with Malek taking the villain role. Producer Barbara Broccoli revealed that the 25th James Bond film will open in Jamaica, where the agent has been living in peace.

However, an old friend visits Bond to put him on a mission to rescue a scientist. He’ll follow a trail that will lead him to the villain who has new technology.

“I’m very much looking forward to joining the whole cast and crew very soon, and I promise you all I will be making sure Mr. Bond does not have an easy ride of it in this,” Malek said in a video statement. The name of his character, however, has not yet been divulged.

The producers have also not revealed the title of this upcoming Bond movie. Speculations suggest, however, that it will likely be called “Shatterhand.”

“Bond 25” is Craig’s fifth and likely final outing as the British agent. He last appeared as James Bond in the 2015 film “Spectre.”

Several of the cast members from the previous films are also returning to reprise their roles, such as Ben Whishaw (as Q), Ralph Fiennes (as M), Naomie Harries (as Moneypenny), Léa Seydoux (as Madeleine Swann) and Jeffrey Wright (as Felix Lieter). However, there will also be new faces like Billy Magnussen, Lashana Lynch, Ana De Armas, David Dencik and Dali Benssalah.

“True Detective” season 1 director Cary Joji Fukunaga has taken over for Danny Boyle as director of “Bond 25.” The movie will continue to shoot in Jamaica, as well as Italy, London and Norway for the next three months.

“Bond 25” has an April 8, 2020 theater release date.
