CBA: Gen. Trias downs MNL Sausage in OT

General Trias sizzled at the start of the overtime period to defeat MNL Sausage, 106-100, in the Community Basketball Association Founders Cup at the San Andres Sports Complex in Manila on Saturday.

The Bravo recovered in the additional five minutes after losing a seemingly comfortable lead in the last two minutes of regulation.

Down 77-84 with 2:01 left in the fourth quarter, the Kings went on an 11-4 run capped by an Argel Mendoza triple with five seconds left to send the game to overtime at 88-all.

But GT started the extra session with a 9-1 run to go up, 97-89, before keeping MNL Sausage at bay in the end.

Jonathan Rivera made 21 points, 13 rebounds, three assists, and one steal, while Ian Melencio put up 19 markers, eight boards, six dimes, two steals, and one block for the Bravo.

Wowie Escosio had 26 points on 10-of-17 shooting, eight caroms, and one dish for the Kings.

In the first game, Binangonan banked on a third-quarter blast to beat Rizal Leadlink, 87-83.

The Slashers bounced back from a 23-point deficit and turned things around right after halftime with a 33-point third quarter before holding on in the end.

Ivan Cuyong fired 25 points, seven rebounds, one assist, and one block off the bench for Binangonan.

Miguel Agulto and James Abugan, on the other hand, had impressive two-way games highlighted by a double-double each.

Edzel Mag-isa scored 20 markers, 19 boards, three dimes, and two steals for Rizal.
