Taguig won in double overtime before its home crowd even as Camsur emerged as the opening game winner in the inaugural season of the National Basketball League (NBL) at the Hagonoy Sports Complex in Taguig City last Saturday.

The Madmax Taguig Generals overcame the Marikina Shoemakers in double overtime, 110-101, while the Camsur Express beat the Rizal Spartans, 70-61, in the opening day of the new league for homegrown players.

Jonathan Lontoc got a double-double when he finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Generals to win the best player of the game honors.

It was a see-saw battle for Taguig as the Generals even overcame a 7-0 run by Marikina to start off overtime.

Jester Olea finished with 17 points and shot a sizzling 5 out of 10 from three-point range to lead the Express to the victory.

“Big opportunity itong NBL lalo na sa mga amateur players tulad namin especially those coming from the province of Camsur na isa kami sa napili para maglaro sa NBL,” said Olea after the game.
