MPBL: Bacoor goes for third straight win
Games Tuesday (Strike Gymnasium, Bacoor)
7 p.m. – Cebu vs Davao Occidental
9 p.m. – Bacoor vs Laguna
ACTION in the MPBL Datu Cup resumes on Tuesday, August 14, as Bacoor hosts Laguna while Davao Occidental and Cebu clash in an exciting double header slated at the Strike Gymnasium in Bacoor City.
The Strikers are coming off from back-to-back victories and they’re hoping to re-establish that winning run with a win against the Krah-supported Heroes in the main game at 9 p.m. right after the match between the Cocolife-backed Tigers and the Casino Ethyl Alcohol-sponsored Sharks at 7 p.m.
Mikee Reyes and the rest of the Strikers picked up their second straight win following an 86-68 dumping of the Caloocan Supremos-Longrich last August 2 in a game that saw the former University of the Philippines guard dishing out a triple-double performance.
Reyes finished with 21 points, 15 assists and 10 rebounds while keeping a hold of the Strikers’ domination of the Supremos all game long all the way to posting their third win in five games.
But it wasn’t Reyes alone who had a breakout performance.
It also served as a stage for 46-year-old Marlo Aquino to unravel his best game ever in the MPBL as the cage legend came away with a league-high 16 points, four assists and three blocks.
Like Bacoor, Cebu is also at high picking up the biggest win of the season at the expense of inaugural staging champion Batangas City Athletics-Tanduay and the Sharks are out to duplicate the feat against the struggling Tigers team that has lost three in a row.
At 1-4, Cebu is hoping to continue its giant-slaying ways and adding Davao Occidental is on top its mind.
