Fox Releases First Full ‘The Gifted’ Trailer [WATCH]
Fox has released the first full trailer to “The Gifted.” This mark’s the network’s partnership with Marvel in developing a television show.
“The Gifted” is based off characters from Marvel’s “X-men” comic book series and leading the cast is Stephen Moyer (“True Blood”) and Amy Acker (“Person of Interest”). The two play husband and wife who learn that their kids — played by Natalie Alyn Lind and Percy Hynes White — have mutant superpowers. Forced to hide from the government that’s hostile against mutants, the family seeks refuge in a network of mutants living underground and who are also trying to survive a cruel world.
Also in the cast of “The Gifted” are Sean Teale (Reign) as Eclipse/Marcos Diaz, Jamie Chung (Once Upon a Time) as Blink/Clarice Fong, Coby Bell (The Game) as Jace Turner, Emma Dumont (Aquarius) as Polaris/Lorna Dane and Blair Redford (The Lying Game) as Thunderbird/John Proudstar.
“The Gifted” is written by Matt Nix (“Burn Notice”) for television, while the “X-men” movies’ favorite director and producer, Bryan Singer, serves as the pilot episode’s director. Fox has been developing the show since July 2016 and plans slowly settled when Singer came aboard the project.
If “The Gifted” takes off in the ratings, observers note there’s plenty of potential for Fox to develop more “X-men” action television series featuring solo stories on Cylclops or Storm or other favorite characters. Fox’s sister network, FX, had a successful run with “Legion” starring Dan Stevens as David Haller, the son of Professor Xavier.
The possibilities are endless for launching more superhero shows in the network in the future. For now, relish in “The Gifted’s” teaser and see if it’s right up your alley. The show is one of fall season’s highly anticipated series. Fox has yet to confirm its official debut date. Watch the first full trailer below:
