Cloudian Demonstrates How National Entertainment Companies Can Accelerate Workflows

NAB Presentation Outlines How Object Storage Solves Active Archive Challenges

Cloudian, Inc., a global leader in hybrid cloud object storage systems, will present at the NAB Show on how it’s helping an iconic TV comedy series build a private cloud to store, manage and monetize more than 40 years of the show’s episodes and individual skits.

The session, presented Tuesday, April 25 from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. PT in room N239/N241 at the NAB Show in Las Vegas, will share strategies to build an open architecture and save costs, while accelerating media access in a highly, time-pressured workflow. Attendees can pre-register for the session by visiting cloudian.com/nab.

“Every day, millions of viewers search the web for TV shows they recently missed or remember from years ago,” said Jon Toor, Cloudian chief marketing officer. “We want to make it easy for viewers to find their favorite skits in seconds, and enable broadcast companies to leverage content and generate new revenues whenever possible.”

Cloudian is working with a weekly Saturday night comedy TV show to consolidate millions of assets to a near-line archive, associating metadata with clips to enable quick access to data.

Cloudian serves broadcast and production companies with on-premises, active archive storage that is at parity with public cloud costs and is compatible with most popular media asset manager software. Customers can start small and grow to petabytes with zero downtime.

Cloudian will also demonstrate partner solutions in its NAB booth # SL9021. Partner solutions include:

  • FileCatalyst Direct accelerates file transfers either to or from Cloudian object storage with point-to-point speeds of up to 10 GB per second.
  • DataFrameworks ClarityNow! saves costs by letting users identify pools of redundant or dormant data and then moving them to cost-effective Cloudian storage, thus freeing up expensive capacity and deferring Tier 1 storage purchases.
  • The Primestream Xchange media asset manager and Cloudian together enable fast, cost-effective active archive storage.
